Ocwen Financial Corp. and the NAACP are collaborating to promote a series of outreach events intended to help struggling borrowers stay in their homes. The series, “Help & Hope for Homeowners,” will offer in-person, individualized mortgage counseling from Ocwen and HUD counselors for home owners who are struggling to make their payments. The aid could include principal reductions or load modification programs.
“The Ocwen and the NAACP borrower outreach events are a great example of how the mortgage industry and nonprofits can work together to make a real difference in people’s lives,” says Charles R. Lowery Jr., interim senior director/director of fair lending and inclusion with the NAACP’s economic department. “After meeting with borrowers across the U.S. in 2015, we confirmed that the housing crisis is not over for many borrowers, especially those in African-American communities and communities of color. These borrowers are still in need of help.”
